while sitting in the nashville airport

I am currently sitting at an internet kiosk in the Nashville airport waiting for a connecting flight to Baltimore. The trip to New Orleans was awesome, although I didn't get to do quite all of what I wanted to do there. Those of you who bitch about pgh being so small, keep in mind that I believe N.O. is actually smaller, which became evident when we kept running into the same locals all the time (and some pittsburgh ex-pats, coincidentally). We stayed at this awesome little place in the Marigny and they fed us good breakfast every morning and there was a nice cat down the street. Most of the time we wandered around the french quarter, although we did go on one of those swamp tours which was actually pretty awesome. I really need to move back to N.O. at some point in my life -- the city just has this amazing vibe that you can't find anywhere else, like the city itself is somehow just a little more of a self aware entity than most, and I love it.

In any case, here I am in transit in this here airport, having definitively moved out of pittsburgh but not yet moved in anywhere. My parents' new house in VA is nice although pretty cookie-cutter looking externally, and they are totally unable to ever actually live inside a city (technically, now, they live in Crozet, a tiny sort of town suburb thing outside of Charlottesville). They keep bitching about how incredibly expensive "decent" houses are and all this stuff, which I agree with but I'm having a hard time being sympathetic since I did the math and figured out that my parents have got to be in something like the 96th or 7th percentile income wise in this country (according to the 2003 census, although I'm sure details have changed since then). I guess their money doesn't seem as much as that of comperable households because they pretty much refuse to do all the things other people seem to do, such as invest in anything ever, or occasionally go into a bit of credit card debt. But still. No pity from me.

Anyway, now I am on my way to MD to visit a variety of Dave's family members, which will be perhaps enjoyable but assuredly interesting. Then I will return to my parents' house for a few days, and feel awkward in this house that is theirs but that I never lived in, and then I will move into a triple dorm at St. John's with some girl from Cali and some girl from Jersey (definitely some tv show possibilities there), and that will be ostensibly my new home. Eep.

Nashville airport...

It's better than Chicago O'Hare. The layout makes a lot mroe sense, too. It's the closest airport to the little niche in Kentucky that I inhabit, so I use it the most.

Too bad you can't check out Nashville that much. It's a nice place, (the country music scene isn't as all-pervasive as you would think), and has some pretty good coffee shops.

Have a safe flight(s).

The airports not bad but the roadways? Egads.

Ditto on the flights. Though, if you come to Nashville, you'll probably not want to drive at all @_@; People drive stooooopid-crazy here.

New Orleans is definately top notch over Nashville though. That'd be my first choice of visit too.

I've been told I ought to go live in New Orleans, but I don't know how to just pack up and move there. (I guess I could live in my car.)
